I lived in Brazil between 1998 and 2003 as the South America correspondent for the Guardian and the Observer. My time there resulted in my first book, Futebol: The Brazilian Way of Life, a look at Brazilian culture through the lens of football. It was nominated at the British Book Awards and the National Sports Book Awards.
